The MA in European Studies is offered by the Institute of European Studies (Faculty of Social Sciences) at the University of Wrocław. This programme provides an in-depth exploration of the European Union’s institutions, law, economics, and policies, while also addressing broader European geopolitical, cultural, political, and societal dynamics. Students will delve into key aspects of EU governance, external relations, the area of freedom, security and justice (AFSJ), and specific challenges related to European integration and cooperation. The curriculum balances its focus on the EU with discussions on Europe as a whole, including the diverse relationships between EU and non-EU countries as well as international politics.
Learning is facilitated through a combination of seminars, workshops, lectures, and discussion sessions, enabling students to engage with both theoretical and practical aspects of European studies. The programme equips students with a thorough understanding of the European Union and its role in the global context. Graduates gain professional skills suited for careers in diplomacy, international institutions, public administration, academia, and the private sector.
The programme is conducted entirely in English by experts in their fields. It spans two years, divided into four semesters, during which students must complete 120 ECTS and produce a Master’s thesis. Additionally, the Erasmus+ scheme offers students the opportunity to study abroad for a semester or a full year, with a financial grant to support their living expenses, enriching their international experience and academic perspective.
Applicants should hold a BA or MA in any subject to be eligible. However, candidates with a background in Political Science, European Studies, International Relations, Law, Economics, History, Management, Humanities, Languages, or related fields are particularly well-prepared to benefit from the programme.
