Dr. hab. Maciej Cesarz is a graduate of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wroclaw, a doctor of legal sciences, and a habilitated doctor of political and administration sciences. Since 2005, he has first been employed at the Institute of Political Science and then at the Institute of European Studies, at the Faculty of Social Sciences, at the University of Wroclaw. He held positions of Deputy Director of the Institute of Political Science, Deputy Head of Didactics in the Department of European Studies, coordinator of the Erasmus programme and coordinator of the MA in European Studies programme.
He has several years of experience working outside the academic sector (Department of External Control of the National Health Service). He worked as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Malta and taught in Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey and Georgia. His research interests lie in the area of freedom, security and justice in the EU, EU law, the internal market, border management and EU migration policy, as well as EU-Turkish relations and issues of local self-government.
